Nerd Princess Designs: Amazing World of Mosaic Crochet
Nerd Princess Designs: Amazing World of Mosaic Crochet

My name is Carri Carey and I am so excited to have you here at Nerd Princess Designs! I have been an avid crocheter most of my life and love learning new techniques. When I learned about mosaic crochet in 2021, I became obsessed! But I was disappointed that I could not find mosaic patterns that represented my loves – my movie fandoms, favorite characters, and fanatical interests. So what does a creative crocheter do? I designed my own! I want to share these fun patterns with you! Have an idea or something you really want to see made in crochet? Let me know!

General Information

This website features overly mosaic crochet patterns, which use two basic crochet stitches to create a thick fabric featuring a picture or intricate design.

The blanket patterns are worked with the front of your work facing you at all times. Each row is started on the right and worked to the left, then finished off at the end. As an overlay mosaic pattern is worked, your blanket may roll and curl – this is normal!  Just keep going and it will flatten out as it gets bigger.  A border will also help it keep its shape.

In mosaic crochet, colors generally switch back and forth between rows. This pattern includes written instructions, as well as a chart, so use whichever works best for you!

Abbreviations Used

sc – single crochet. For this pattern, the single crochet is worked in the back loop only

dc – double crochet. For this pattern, the double crochet is worked in the front loop of the stitch one row below. The stitch will sit on top of the row below and the sc on the working row is skipped.

bs – border stitch. This is a standard single crochet, worked through both loops. Each row begins and ends with a border stitch.

FO – Finish off.

Each row begins with a new color and is finished off at the end. Always work each row from right to left with the front side of the blanket facing you.
